About This Project

Phone My Mum is a start-up retail business who specialise in children’s identity bracelets.

 

Targeting the growing child safety market, the company hand-crafts personalised children’s bracelets, which include a parent or guardian’s phone number in a child friendly design. The purpose of the product is to provide ‘peace of mind’ to parents, while also being a fun fashion accessory for children.

 

Challenge: Client concerns

 

After successfully selling their products at local events and markets, Phone My Mum identified the need to establish an online presence, but required support and guidance to understand how to best go about this within the budget they had available.

 

This included understanding which eCommerce platforms, hosting solutions, marketplace selections / integrations and online marketing opportunities might be best suited to their needs.

 

Approach: How we worked

 

We began this assignment with a face-to-face meeting, during which the client outlined the business concept. We then went on to work with the client to better understand their product range, target market, inventory size, available resources and growth predictions. This allowed us to gain the necessary insight and understanding of their needs so that we could propose the most appropriate solutions.

 

Following the completion of this process, we produced a bespoke report which provided in-depth eCommerce advice and guidance tailored to the specific needs of the client.

 

Based on the specifics of their situation, we advised that they use the Shopify eCommerce platform as this would provide a reliable, quick and affordable way to launch an eCommerce website (as it offers template-based front-end design, integrated hosting, plug-ins for SEO and marketplace integrations, along with low-cost maintenance and simple upgrade solutions for future growth).

 

After receiving our advice and guidance, the client was able to successfully launch an eCommerce website and commence trading online.

 

The second phase of the assignment, which took place 6 weeks later, involved us providing hands-on assistance to integrate their Amazon Marketplace account with the Shopify platform to enable multi-channel commerce. The solution we provided streamlined stock updates, order management and product uploads, eliminating various manual processes.

 

We also provided content creation services, which included SEO friendly product descriptions, image editing and Amazon specific information. Finally, we set-up Amazon Sponsored Ads and advised on how they might utilise Social Media and paid-for online marketing to grow their sales.

 

Upon completion of the assignment, we supplied comprehensive training documents and step-by-step guides to assist the client in ongoing management of their new eCommerce set-up.

 

Results: Benefits delivered

 

We helped Phone My Mum achieve the confidence to set-up and launch their eCommerce website on a platform that was suitable for their immediate business needs, as well as being capable of supporting future business growth.

 

By facilitating the integration with Amazon Marketplace the business was able to expand their online trading activities. Additionally, by optimising product descriptions and Amazon-specific information we maximised their selling opportunities which resulted in the client achieving their first sales on Amazon less than a week after the integration went live.
